TF-CBT
TF-CBT for children and adolescents
Has your child or teenager experienced a traumatic event? Are they having difficulty sleeping or eating? Is their school performance affected by trouble concentrating? Have you noticed changes in behavior since the trauma occurred? If so, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) may help.
TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment designed specifically for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. It is conducted with the involvement of a parent or caregiver, which helps support healing both in and out of therapy. TF-CBT is a structured, components-based model that can be used as a primary treatment or in combination with other approaches.
TF-CBT is most effective for children and teens between the ages of 3 and 18. It can be used for young people who have experienced a single traumatic event or multiple traumas.
TF-CBT may help with symptoms such as:
(This is not an exhaustive list.)
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Behavioral changes related to the trauma
- Sleep problems
- Difficulty focusing
- Posttraumatic stress symptoms or PTSD
If you believe your child may benefit from TF-CBT, I am here to guide both you and your child through a supportive and evidence-based healing process.
