I am dedicated to helping an orphanage, Fundación Red de Misericordia, in The Dominican Republic. The Orphanage helps children from newborn to 18 years old including pregnant teens. The children typically have been abandoned by their families and/ or have an abuse history when they are taken in by the orphanage. I try to visit the orphanage at least once a year. I also do a drive and collect non-perishable food, toys, clothes, baby items, and anything that may be of use to the children.
Recently I added a second orphanage, Hogar Infantil Visitacion de Jesus, which specializes in Special Needs children. If children are not adopted, they are cared for in the orphanage indefinitely. I do a similar drive for these children.
